Any opinion on the AKG C214?
Something like a chinese C414?
I didn't even know it existed!

They just announced it at the AES show in Amsterdam. It's not Chinese;
it's made with the same automated tensioning system that the current
C414 and C3000 capsules are made on. Single diaphragm capsule, though
they wouldn't tell me if it was a snap-in like the C3000.

I told a friend of mine that the C214 is "the mono version of the C414".
It was to be a joke, but he said "cool"...

Should have told him that the C214 was the stereo version of the quad
C414 :)

Brand new. Supoosed to be a 'bare bones' 414.

Well, not quite - single diaphram.

The capsule (from the short-form service manuals) does NOT look like the
C3000B one. It has a rim-connected leadout-wire connection pin sticking
out - more like the XLS .
