 All For Nothing
Well, I just found out this evening that one of the speakers will be
bringing in their full setup so mine will only be used for lunch time; that
is, some music and two informal speakers (not recorded). They didn't want
to pull apart the CD recorder so instead we will be using their setup
(unless they have some junk like Sampson or such) for recording. I'll find
out tomorrow what they have, hopefully before noon. Hopefully it will be
decent quality gear. The other recorder is a Tascam CC-222mkII.

Watch for amateur, or otherwise poor burned cd's!
Skips, and corrupt mp3's make YOU look like a dork.
Good luck!

Good choice. Now if the PA and recording doesn't work out, there will be
someone other than you to blame. Get yourself a good sandwich and enjoy
your lunch gig.

Crate powered head with a "smile" eq and 12" Crate speakers. The amp is
set to "bridge" but needs a minimum of an 8 ohm load and the two speakers
hooked together give only a 4 ohm load. No pfl. No mutes. Set and guess.
The CD is overpowering the system. Oh well.

The DEQ is DOA, constantly resetting and jumping through the meter bars and
functions. When it powers up okay it keeps popping. The autoeq isn't too
bad, but the popping just makes it useless. Behringer tech support was
busy and has not called me back. No eq, FBD, compressor, nothing. Channel
eqing sounds pretty decent.

Just before last night's service I checked out the recorder and found I
could not get enough signal to get a good recording on the Crate system. I
spent about an hour or more swapping out the systems and getting enough
cable for my system in the other room. I put the CD recorder on my control
room output and had great control over the record levels. The recorder
hardly ever went into the red, but I had to run the signal much lower than
I would have liked to. Both speakers were moderately dynamic, soft to
moderately intense. Only had minor feedback at the end of the first
workshop during her very intense prayer. An eq would have been nice and
would have eliminated the feedback altogether. Both presenters were very
active and out in the audience.

As expected I got pulled off normal duties, but not during recording. I
still have one recording session tomorrow morning. This speaker might be a
little more challenging as I heard him last night and he was more dynamic
than today's speakers. It is tempting to swap out the DEQ for the church's
unused compressor to tame down the extremes in this guy's speaking. He was
very loud, almost shouting.

I have no idea what this thread is about, but i've never seen one single
quality product from Crate.
