 Audition session freezes
I recently tried to open up a certain session for the first time a few
months, and the tracks load just fine, but the mix gauge is solid and
when I try to play or do a mixdown, the entire program freezes and I
have to use task manager to stop it. Other sessions and files open
just fine. Is there anything I can do about this, like change the Wave
cache size or Temp folder size? My system has a 2.8 processor and 2 GB
of RAM and usually quite fast enough, and the session worked fine the
last time I opened it.

Do Adobe have an online forum ? That would be the place to ask.

It sounds like the session file is corrupted. Try this:
Import the files from this session into a new one. It's a pain,
especially if all the audio doesn't start at the same point but It
usually solves the problem.

If I did this, I would not have all the volume edits and rack FX,
which there are quite a few of.

It beats having to start from scratch. Ask me again why even with
Audition, I mix all of my stuff through an analog console.

I've had a few corrupt CEP/Audition session files over the years, just a
few. Changing the name of the .ses file every once in a while gives you
cheap backup.

That seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water. I mix on an 02R96
for hours every week, but I'd never call that a replacement for mixing on a
DAW, more specifically with CEP/Audition.

Is it possible that something changed, like the name,
location or existence of a plug-in ? Or a track file ?
One of the files edited by another program ?

Make sure _all_ your audio files are still there.

I did rename the folder that the entire session and files are in. I've
done this before with others and it caused no problems. If nothing
else I do have a backup.

Checking the backup is the 1st thing I would have done.
