 DA-78 Timecode thru Question.
Hi Folks,
I was just wondering does anybody know if it's possible to route MTC
from the time code in on the Tascam DA-78HR.

I'm running a DA-78 and a Laptop Hard Disk at at the same time to back
up each other. I'm wondering is there a way I can configure it so I
can change a tape and keep the hard disk running slaved to MTC from
the DA-78's MIDI out. ie. I want to record on the timecode track on
the DA-78 and slave the laptop to the MTC out, and hopefully still
keep the re-transmitting the code to the Laptop if I need to change
tapes on the DA.

Thanks...

MTC only comes out when the tape is running.

Most DAW programs don't actually continuously chase time code, but just
look at it once to determine the starting time, and then run off the
clock from that time. If you use the word clock output of the DA-78 as
the clock source for the DAW, that will keep the computer recording
running at the same speed as the DA-78 so that when you do get them in
sync after changing tape, they'll remain in sync.
