During an old routine he'd talk about the environment. To paraphrase "In
<insert number> years the Earth will still be here, you won't"

I don't know why that always stayed with me.

Well, SHIT.

And to think, he was scheduled to recieve the Mark Twain Award from
the Kennedy Center in November.

Guess they waited a little too late...

It's hard to decide just what you meant by the above. Do you think, at
71 years old, that smoking pot somehow contributed to his heart
disease...or was that just an off the cuff remark?

I'm afraid smoking ANYTHING doesn't tend to prolong life :-(

Carlin was a heavy (cigarette) smoker. It almost certainly contributed to
his heart problems.

My best friend died of lung cancer in February. He never smoked cigarettes,
but for many years he smoked pot. It might have contributed or even caused
the cancer.

Recent findings suggest it is worse than tobacco as a carcinogen.

Less recent findings 'suggested' it would lead to heroin addiction
and/or madness. There's a lot of disinformation out there.

CAN you smoke pot without mixing it into tobacco? Wouldn't it go up
like a bonfire?

Boy, if you were trying to convince someone you had never smoked
pot, that would be a masterful disinformation effort.

Boy howdy...but FWIW, that's not uncommon thinking in Europe--especially
Germany, where they never smoke the stuff pure (or eat a sandwich
without butter).

Well, if I had been trying to convince someone I never smoked
pot in Europe, I made a masterful effort, eh?
