OT:Agent Bitch-'n--Moan ignore if fortunate
If you're so fortunate as to still be running the lovely,
comprehendible, *actually working* Agent pre-4.x, don't
experiment. Two days of pain and agony dealing with the
SBCGlobal-acquired AT&T have been overshadowed by the new
MS-inspired Agent. Just say no, and save twenty bux.
Very sorry to have to report this; former big fan; the world
is falling into a shitstorm; yada-yada; bitch-'n-moan.
The much worse story is that if you're a long-time
(.worldnet.att.net era) customer you are so totally
screwed that you won't believe it.
But I'm not at all kidding,
Kiss yer sweet ass goodby,

Thanks Chris.
What problems have you had with Agent 4? (Not that I'm in any hurry to
upgrade, 'cos it ain't broke...)

I'm (finally) posting on v.4.2 now, so there's nothing fatally flawed.
I'm very sorry to have gone off on a program that I've loved for more
than a decade.
The newest version is difficult for a tired, downtrodden new user
because many functions that could be easily and logically done in
earlier versions are obscure and frustrating in the current.
For example, after timing out the automatic "get new groups"
function while fighting ISP issues, the help file helpfully
offers "this function is not supported".
It, and hopefully all the other fine Agent functions, can still be
done, but are wierdly obscured, One example: common keyboard shortcuts
are changed and/or unavailable. Why? Why?
"Too much time on their hands" maybe. But enough bitching; very sorry.
Much thanks,as always,

Well, at least you've saved me from a similar fate...

Test. Test. Test.
Is this thing on? Can somebody turn on the feedback filter?
Thanks.
My signature will now appear. Those who have incurred my wroth will
see their pithy-nesses appear below (if I can figure that part out...)

Doesn't work. Surprise, surprise.
I wrote some code (in Basic- not compostable - real Basic) back
in the Apple 2e era. I (as an absolute amatuer asshole) could
make a better user interface than I'm facing here. Good code
ain't Rocket Surgery.
Enough bithin'-'n-moanin.
I'd post a tribute sig if I thought I could actually make it
happen,
