 Opening M1 520 active Alesis?
Hi,

I have the M1 520 Active Alesis monitors.
One of the tweeters is hanging inside. Has anyone
opened one of these enclosures? Just checking before
I start taking out every screw and nut and prying everywhere.
Oh please do not ask how it got like that, thank you.

I've tried to open my Alesis M1 (the first model) because I wanted to change
the drivers.
I discovered that both the woofer and the tweeters were glued to the
cabinet.
Very glued. Too glued. So glued that I couldn't take them off!!!
I tried in many ways but it seems there is no way to take them apart.
Good luck for your pair.

I finally got Alesis to give me the repair shop number in Calif, and
they
said 'after we service them we just put new waveguides on'. Meaning,
you have to break them to get them off.
Yes. Glue. The light gray 'wave guide' that wraps around the front
corner of
the speaker has to be pried off. It will break. Plus you will put all
these
lovely chips in the finish getting it off.
Then you can get the tweeter remounted. I just used silicon glue goop
to
glue the waveguide back on. Looks frankensteinish, but sounds fine.

You know you can always use them as a good birdhouse though if it
doesnt work.
