How close is 800 State Street to where Main Street Stdio was? Looks like
it was right around the corner.

Yeah, I'd forgotten that you had. I kinda liked the place.

Nasty business in that story.

Yeah, really nasty. The good thing is that David and I were able to get
the money into those two boys hands and give them the financial help
their father never gave them. It made us feel good.

That's great. I wish it had turned out better. You guys be careful out
there.

I think we probably both went on to things that contributed more to
our futures than Main Street could have (under the circumstances).

As to the kids who were shot and killed outside of Zion Recording
last month.... I have my own opinions on how that tragedy came
down. I don't know what's still on the web site for the studio, but
when the shootings took place... the only samples they had up
were hip-hop, rap, and R&B. Take a look at the article I posted
to your OP, examine the perpetrators and the studio's relatively
small recording history, and draw your own conclusions.

It's still a shame that people are able to consciously commit a
heinous crime like this and have no remorse (see story). I guess
the worst part of the whole scenario was the fact that the shootings
left the extremely young and rather helpless appearing mother of
new children on her own.

Cheers,

DM

I'm guessing that the two perps booked a checkout and cased the place.
Maybe something went wrong. The owner being new to the business may not
have made the "call them back so you at least have a number" rule. It
happened at another studio in Arlington, at least nobody was hurt in
that one, but they held people at gunpoint and took everything in sight.

And I'm sorry that James died so quickly after you came on board.
I think that little room could still be making money - and when it died,
it took a really long piece of Garland recording studio history with it.

Just so no one gets confused, the two kids Romeo mentions helping,
weren't the two who were murdered.... they were the children of the
deceased owner of Main Street; who died of a heart attack in his sleep
at age 40 and the proceeds from the sale of the studio went to his kids.

He did however, pay plenty of child support and treated the kids really
well on holidays, birthdays, etc... a part of why the differences between
he and the children's mom were never reconciled. He lavished things
on the kids (however sporadically) that mom could never hope to.
