Oh, I'm a spring chicken with my 45, but when seeing the same stuff again
the second time, and realising that the new programmes are just copying
each other, that was the time I got rid of my television. Radio is much

Thank you very much for that thorough comparison test! The NTG-3 is
closer to the 416 than I thought it would be. Sounds like they aimed
to create a budget version of the 416. I'd be curious to hear the
Audix 1280 S in comparison for a super compact shotgun mic in the same
price range.
I am looking for a 416 alternative that can fit into a very small
portable recording kit that I can build for my VO clients.

Thanks for that Ty. After listening I went to your site to hear some of the
other mics. You don't happen to have a Soundeluxe U195 still lying around
that you could count to ten a few times into from about the same distance as
the 416?
It's one of those mics that keeps coming up in RAP but which I've never seen
in a studio. I do VOs mostly.
