Shure MD-421-I I Microphone -Good? Bad?
Got this mic a few years ago for a charity benefit - not sure what I
paid for it - question, if anyone is inclined to help: is it worth
trying to sell (more than a full tank of gas?) or should I donate to
Palm Springs High School or a local charity thrift store?

Thanks in advance!

It's not a Shure, it's a Sennheiser, and it's one of the most common stage
microphones ever made.

If it's in good shape, it will sound good. If it has been knocked around, it
is very common for the diaphragm in them to become damaged. If that is the
case, the bottom end will be almost completely gone.

If you really have a Shure MD 421-II, you have a one-of-a-kind rarity and
should be able to sell it for lots and lots of money.

However, my bet is that you have a Sennheiser MD 421-II, a pretty common
microphone and not particularly good because of its screechy high end (the
original MD 421 was way better in many people's opinions, including mine).
It'll probably bring $100-200 on e-bay, assuming it works, and if it were me
I'd list it there with a $100 starting price and a $150 reserve. Anything
but listen to it.

Peace,
Paul
