Volume pot rating for a Mackie 1202 MS?
Hello,
I am looking at a 1202 that has a missing volume pot on one of the
channels(kinda mystery to me). I haven't bought it yet but was
wondering if anyone had any idea of what the rating would be on the
pot? I just wanted to check to see if I had one in my workbench...
Thanks
Brian

No, you're going to have to order it from Mackie... the things are
mounted directly on the PC board and consequently they need to have the
exact same form factor as the original. Mackie won't charge much for
them.
If it's like the earlier 1202s, it's a 10K log taper pot (assuming you
mean the fader and not the trim control... the trim is a reverse log taper).

I had a two scratchy pots on a 1202VLZPro. Mackie sent them out
with no talk of money. The circuit board was a very tight three
layer job. There are five pins that have to be dealt with.
Just getting the old pot out took some artistry. I somehow failed to
get everything right, and the knob now has no effect. It was the
control room out which I send into an amp, so it doesn't bother me much.

My technique it to cut all the accessible pins (since the pot is already trash)
and remove those pins individually. I do the same with bust ICs etc too. Even
resistors.
That gives you a far better chance of not damaging the critical circuit board.

See Scott's post too but expect replacing it to be a bitch of a job.
I'm currently working on a Midas Venice and My God, I cannot imagine how
they could have constructed it to be less serviceable.
