I don't see any reason why the 16V car can't be converted to LPG though
they're not directly designed for it, but the 8V one would be very difficult
since K-jet is completely unsuited to that sort of fuel and would need to be
replaced with full EFI using megasquirt or something similar to give the
engine an adaptable ECU. There have been a couple of folks on the various
Saab forum sites that have put electronic injection, Megasquirt, etc. onto
Saab 8V engines that used to have K-jet fuel injection. Requires a fair bit
of modding to the intake manifold.
The 16V car already has full electronic control (via the Bosch LH-Jetronic
system) which will probably handle adapting between normal petrol and gas
(LPG that is, not the US-ified 'gasoline' name for petroleum!), and there's
a guy I know here in Australia who's currently working on converting a 1990
16V c900 to run solely on LPG.
I think the major issues are locating all the various components such the
LPG tank, filler port, and associated plumbing with the related gear to
control and regulate the flow of gas to the intake system. Here in oz there
are lots of standardised LPG conversion kits for common domestic Australian
cars but I suspect in the UK where you are there's more stuff for putting
LPG into a Saab c900 since there's a lot more of them to start with!
